Creamy cilantro jalapeño salsa or sauce or dip. This creamy, spicy, and herby dipping sauce is perfect as a dip for tortilla chips, on tacos, or on top of nachos. The dip easily comes together in the food processor.
Cooking dinner night after night can start to drain you.
That may be my opinion alone.
Yes, I am a food blogger whose career is cooking.
I do like fast food or pizza take out like anybody else.
It is nice to have a meal or night off, ya know?
Lately, I have been trying to create some cooking hacks to make meal time quicker and not lose any of the homemade flavors.
Spring and summer sport seasons are a crazy time of year for most parents.
On those nights where I am running from pick up to drop off, I turn to frozen foods.
I really love frozen taquitos from Trader Joe’s.
The boys will occasionally eat the chicken ones. Mike and I are fans of the black bean ones as well.
I usually make a little salad from shredded lettuce and pico de gallo to go on the side of the taquitos.
Andy is a big fan of my homemade restaurant style salsa.
I wanted something a little creamier to play off the salsa.
To make creamy cilantro jalapeño salsa you will need:
- a bunch of cilantro
- a few fresh jalapeños
- jarred jalapeño peppers
- cream cheese
- sour cream
- lime juice
- salt & pepper
Chop the top half off the bunch of the cilantro. Leaving most of the stems behind.
Then, remove the seeds and stem from the jalapeño peppers.
Add them to your food processor and pulse until minced.
Scrape down the sides and then add the lime juice, cream cheese, sour cream, salt, and pepper.
Puree until a smooth, semi-thick sauce/salsa forms.
There will still be a few little flecks of cilantro and jalapeño peppers visible in the salsa.
Adjust the salt and pepper to taste along the way.
We literally sat around a bag of tortilla chips and almost downed the whole bag with this dip in one sitting!
Like I said, it is a great salsa to spice up taco night.
Here are some uses for the salsa:
- Use as a dip for tortilla chips.
- Use as a salsa on tacos, nachos, taquitos, or burrito bowls.
- Marinate some fish or chicken in the salsa and then grill until charred.
This creamy sauce is the new condiment around here.
I hope you’ll follow our trend.
