Soup season is in full swing! This list has all the best soups you could ever imagine. Veggie loaded soups, cheesy soups, classic soups, and maybe some new twists on the classics.
Some parts of the country may still be rocking seventy degrees in November, but that doesn’t change the fact that my mind has shifted into soup mode.
Mike and I used to get in arguments early in our marriage about wether or not soup was a meal.
I clearly think soup is in fact a meal.
Mike is still not thoroughly convinced. He is convinced enough to not argue with me during soup season. Sometimes, I am nice enough to toss a grilled cheese sandwich or salad on the side to meet him halfway.
Picking a favorite soup is like choosing a favorite child… Lucky for me I only have two children.
Choosing between the best soup recipes is very hard!
If I had to pick my top five favorite soups of all time they would be as follows:
- Minestrone Soup – This soup has so many vegetables. I always add too many noodles to this soup. One of those good problems. Top the soup with some parmesan cheese and a healthy sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes.
- Chicken Noodle Soup – This soup cures what ails you. It is also the easiest soup to make.
- Broccoli Cheddar Soup – I don’t care what you say, the broccoli makes this soup healthy.
- Tomato Soup – Call it what you want; creamy tomato soup, tomato bisque, spicy tomato soup… I like them all!
- Loaded Baked Potato Soup – Nobody is here for the potato on this one. It is all about the cheese, green onions, and bacon. Right?
I did say it was hard to choose one, let alone five soups.
Let’s allow some honorable mentions.
I love any mushroom soup. Mushroom barley soup or creamy mushroom and potato soup would be tied for the next spot.
Next, I have to go to my Greek diner favorite cream of chicken and orzo. I have a recipe trying to recreate it as best I could. Nothing beats take out on that soup though.
Mike would always and forever vote for chicken tortilla soup. The spicier the better. I have a version made with enchilada sauce, beer, and lime juice. It’s so good!
I feel like this post is getting lengthy. Soup might be my favorite food, I think?
If you haven’t scrolled past my writing yet, I will stop while I am ahead and let you see my list of best soups before I totally lose you.
